Roger's New Backyard

Roger,

While you have been away, we bought you a new house with a bigger backyard. You also have a dalmation neighbor named Gypsy, who is very sweet.

I have been flying helicopters and airplanes for the past few months. This has been interesting but I really miss you. I'll be there next month to pick you up! Say hi to Marla and Marlyn.

Visiting in North Carolina Again!

Hi adoring fans!

I've been back at Marla & Marlyn's home in North Carolina since Sunday Aug. 12th. I missed my Daddy for about 2 whole hours. I pouted in my room willing him to come back and pick me up. What's the idea of leaving me without a steak dinner. . . Or at least hambuger. I mean Daddy set up my room and put my blankets in just right. Gave me my toys and left all my possessions in my "Spoiled Dog Bag". He tried to brag on how good I was about being picked up - Silly, Silly Daddy. He said his good-bye and left while I was occupied in another part of the house. Sneaky, Sneaky Daddy.

For my first week I had to rearrange the living room so there was more room for my toys and room to pay catch and fetch. I've got my special chair back and set it up with a blanket and a pillow. Although I can't see the TV from there so I sometimes have to sit on the couch.

Yesterday Marlyn left the front door open so I could go out on to the porch. When I had enough outside fresh air I came back in to enjoy a movie and the air-conditioning. Marlyn closed the door after me. A couple of hours latter my friend George (he's a black and white boy cat. He's not allowed in the house cause he doesn't know how to be a house cat) was meowing. Marlyn got up to see what he wanted. You know what, I had let George inside earlier and he was sleeping behind a chair the whole time. Now he was meowing to go back out. So George was my first house guest. Daisy doesn't count cause she was here before me and we played together on Sunday until her Mom and Dad picked her up.

I'm going back to play some ball now

Talk to you latter

Sad Days

Hi Everyone

It's been really sad and a bit scarry around her lately.

My favorite person (that's Marlyn - not Marla) went to the doctor on Wendsday (Dec27) and her doctor said she needed some tests so they could find out what is going on with her heart. They could either do them over a few days as an out patient or they could admit her to the hospital and do them all at once.

Marlyn decided to got to the hospital and get it all over with at once.

When Marlyn was in her first room on a REGULAR floor she scared everybody so bad that she was quickly sent to "step down ICU". Her heart had slowed down to 27 beats per minuite. It seems that the reason she has been tired and dizzy for the past 6 months is that her heart was not working right. And the silly heart would work fine most of the time and just occasionally not fire correctly. That's why the doctor couldn't find out what was going on.

The doctors said that she needs a Pacemaker which they would put in on Friday (Dec 29). But before they could do the surgery for the pacemaker they had to do another test, and found a blockage in one of her arteries. She is going back on the 12th to have a stent put in.

We did have a nice quite New Years Eve together and had much to celibrate! I am taking good care of her and not making Marlyn toss the ball to much.

Her daughters are taking turns comming up to help. Kelly (#5) is coming in by train tomorrow and staying until the 11 or 12. Then Lisa (#2) and Paula (#1) are comming on the 13. Lisa is a nurse so we reallly are glad she is comming. After that Sherry (#6) is coming with almost daughter Debbie and a really good friend of the family Nate.

Marlyn is doing pretty well, Marla and she went out for lunch today. And they didn't bring me back a doggie bag. Of course I don't think I would have wanted any old salad but I could have had some of Marla's spaghetti.

Another sad thing . . . do you remember me telling you about that old dog Far-Fel? He got really tired and couldn't stand any more and didn't want to eat. He would only sleep and drink water. Marla and Marlyn took him to the vet so that he could rest forever. He did wait for Marlyn to come home from the hospital, I think he was waiting to say goodby to her. Marla said that Far-Fel is waiting for them at the Rainbow Bridge. That's where we doggies go when we die first and have to wait for our people to come.

Marla made a tribute for Far-Fel if you want to see it you need to type in the following address:

I'm taking real good care of everyone here. You would be so proud of me.

Love you

My trip to the vet's

My trip today was very nice...when I went in I sat on Marlyn's lap all the way to Greensboro, I looked out the window and saw lots of people and cars and christmass trees and lights. The stupid cat cried all the way .. . dumb cat.
At the vet's office I met Dr. Dondrea Coble . . . He's a temporary vet from Reilgh.

Dr. Coble gave me a Physical Exam and some shots and trimmed my nails. Those thing were OK I was very brave when I got my shots but I SURE DIDN"T LIKE GETTING MY BLOOD TEST! I wiggled a bunch and I would have bit him if I could have but Marla put a muzzle on me before the exam. She must have know what was gonna happen . . . she's a sneaky lady.

Well it wasn't to bad, I mean there was a boxer puppy in the lobby with a cast on his front leg and pins in the back. He was really foolish and was chasing cars. Silly Dog . . . but he's gonna be alright.

Next we went to the pet store. They had a special on the other dog's food buy a 30 pound bag of Merrick's dry food and you get 12 cans FREE. We bought two bags. One was called Grandma's Pot Pie the other was Wilderness Blend. So there should be enought for a couple of months maybe even three months so we won't have to drive in the snow latter on.

Guess what was on the front porch when we got home?

A package from MY MOM!
The box said we had to open it right away . . . so we did.

We got a basket full of GOODIES!
This is turning out to be a GREAT Christmas. Just last week Grandma Marshall sent us some real people STEAKS! We had two for dinner they were called "Filet Mignon" some kind of French steaks but they were really, really, really GOOD! I got to have a couple bites. Marla said that we will save the other two for New Years Eve. I can hardly wait, and we are gonning to have Ham on Christmas Day!

I mailed your present off on Thursday. I hope you like it, and I helped to wrap it.

I gotta go.

Love you all

Roger
